Dear Faculty and Staff Members,
This issue of Gender Equality Issue focuses on “stabilization and recovery after sexual trauma.” We hope to help faculty, staff, and students understand common physical and psychological responses after sexual trauma, and learn how to accompany survivors with a trauma-informed attitude. Trauma recovery has no standard timetable, nor is there only one path. Some people need psychological counseling, some need medical care, some need legal and social work resources, and some first need a significant other who is willing to listen sincerely without questioning or rushing them. May we learn together on campus to hold one another with respect and understanding, so that everyone on the road to recovery can slowly regain strength in safety and support.
